VLC Não é possível detectar / escolher saída de dispositivo de áudio padrão

Estou em uma instalação limpa do Funtoo e depois de configurar o ALSA, tentei reproduzir alguns filmes pelo VLC, mas não parece ser capaz de detectar / escolher o dispositivo de áudio de saída padrão. Se eu for para áudio - > Dispositivo de áudio e lá eu escolho o dispositivo de áudio apropriado, então parece funcionar bem. Alguém sabe como corrigir esse problema?

Quando eu chamo vlc do console eu posso ver esta saída, eu estou no KDE Plasma 5

Espero que alguém possa me ajudar a corrigir esse problema chato.

Compilando o VLC media player 2.2.2 Weatherwax (revisão 2.2.1-282-g863a425) resolveu o problema.
