Com base em seus dados, você está usando um chipset baseado em bridge de areia.

Como o ubuntu 10.04 foi lançado em 2010 e o Sandy Bridge foi lançado em 2011, você está usando um sistema operacional mais antigo que o hardware. Os pilotos nem sequer anteciparam qual é a tecnologia na ponte de areia.

A execução de um SO mais antigo em um hardware mais novo geralmente leva a problemas (especialmente o Linux, onde os drivers geralmente são feitos pela comunidade e não pelos fabricantes).
