Erro do leitor de cartão SD

Estou executando o Ubuntu 16.10 em um Acer Aspire V5-571P. Estou tentando usar o leitor de cartões interno para ler um cartão micro SD (que sei que está funcionando corretamente).

O Ubuntu não reconhecerá o cartão e eu receberei a seguinte mensagem de dmesg

Então, no fim das contas, acho que o Ubuntu sabe que há um leitor de cartões lá, mas não pode ler (sem drivers?), alguém sabe o que eu tenho que fazer para que isso funcione?

Isso vai parecer loucura, mas supondo que você esteja usando um adaptador de cartão microSD para SD: tente outro adaptador! Eu só tive esse problema com uma boa placa conhecida e descobri que funcionava perfeitamente com um adaptador de cartão SD diferente. (O adaptador "ruim" funcionou corretamente com um cartão microSD diferente.) Eu não tenho idéia de por que isso seria, mas foi uma correção consistente no meu caso.
