Opções SSD da Dell e SSDs de terceiros no hardware da Dell

Alguém tem alguma experiência com os SSDs da Dell?

Estamos procurando usá-los para uma máquina que executa um banco de dados de valores-chave, como o Tokyo Tyrant.

Eles são caros, além de serem bem pequenos. Apenas 25 / 50GB por US $ 850 / US $ 1700. Existe alguma mágica para eles que eles podem executar melhor do que um SSD $ 128 de 128GB da Intel? O suficiente para justificar o custo e o tamanho do espaço?

Eles só querem que você os coloque no novo R610 por alguma razão ... curioso ...

Além disso, alguém teve alguma sorte com SSDs de terceiros no hardware da Dell?

Unidade SSD: OCZ Vertex EX SATA II de 60 GB SSD de 2,5 polegadas

Por todas as contas, é a unidade SSD de célula de nível único mais popular / melhor analisada disponível para aplicativos 'Enterprise'. Sua literatura reivindica o modelo de 60GB:

  • Ler: até 260 MB
  • Escrita: até 200MBs
  • Gravação sustentada até 100MBs
  • Tempo de procura: menos de 1 ms

Existe um excelente ponto de referência e revisão aqui .

HDD Drive: Unidade SATA II Western Digital Blue Caviar 80GB SATA II de 7200

Esta é uma unidade típica que encontramos em nossos sistemas. Reivindicações de literatura:

  • Leitura contínua & Escreva até 70MB / s
  • Tempo médio de busca: 4,2 ms

A máquina de teste é uma Dell SC1425, 2x3.6GHz Xeons, 16GB de RAM.

Criados dados de teste de arquivo (dados em unidades de disco rígido e SSD):

Criamos dados de teste do mysql (dados nas unidades de HDD e SSD):

sysbench --test=oltp --db-driver=mysql --mysql-socket=/tmp/mysql.sock --mysql-db=test --mysql-table-engine=innodb prepare

Observação: um chassi de adaptador de 2,5 "em 3,5" (encaixe de 2,5 "em slot de 3,5") não funcionará com o trilho de unidade Dell de 3,5 ", pois o alinhamento do conector está desativado. Suponha que você precisará de um plano traseiro de 2,5" usando esses SSDs, provavelmente usaremos o R610.

Nota: Eu testei zfs, xfs e ext4 também, assim como dois SSDs em um software RAID0 ... mas não há espaço para publicá-los aqui e, na maioria das vezes, um único SSD ext3 teve o melhor desempenho. Farei mais testes, mas não parece gostar de invasão de software.

Existem dois tipos diferentes de SSDs, SLC e MLC, célula de nível único e célula de vários níveis, respectivamente. Os drives SLC são mais caros, mais rápidos e supostamente mais confiáveis. As unidades Samsung nos tamanhos 25 / 50G estão disponíveis apenas como SLC (se meus 20 segundos de pesquisa do Google estiverem corretos).

Se o seu uso particular exigirá ou não unidades SLC, a matemática deve ser feita do seu lado. :)

Eles são fabricados pela Samsung, se isso ajudar. Eu estou olhando para um SSD de 25GB fora de um R610 agora. O grande golpe para mim foi que você tem que comprar um controlador RAID e pelo menos duas unidades (ou pelo menos foi o caso há alguns meses).
