Em seu documento Caminhos de Atualização do Windows Server 2008 R2 , a Microsoft indica o seguinte sobre atualizações de edição cruzada:
Cross-edition upgrades (for example, the Windows Server 2008 Foundation SKU to the Windows Server 2008 Datacenter SKU) are not supported.
No entanto, parece que dism pode ser usado para atualizar edições. Veja esta postagem no blog da Technet para mais detalhes. Por favor, note que o blog indica que esta atualização não pode ser realizada em um controlador de domínio.
