Instalação do Servidor Ubuntu do IBM System x3850 M2

Question

Acabei de comprar dois servidores de rack IBM System x3850 M2 de segunda mão, e sou um verdadeiro noob do assunto.

Como tal, não posso dizer se existe uma grande diferença entre x3850 M2 e x3850 X5 . Se não houver, muito da minha pesquisa será muito mais fácil.

Caso contrário, gostaria de saber sobre dois assuntos específicos:

1. Quais sistemas operacionais são suportados por esse modelo? A maioria das referências na net não lista o M2 (e eu também aprecio um sistema operacional livre aqui ).

2. Se o servidor Ubuntu canônico é suportado, então qual é o método de instalação? Eu tentei todos os keybind que eu posso imaginar (vindo de um fundo de instalação de desktop aqui), e não consigo descobrir como iniciar o instalador.

O site da IBM tem vários artigos sobre a instalação do Linux no modelo " IBM System x3850 M2 ", especificamente sobre a instalação do RHEL 5 Hat Enterprise Linux 5), RHEL 6 , SLES 10 SP2 (Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2) e SLES 11 . To configure your RSA2, complete the following steps:

• Turn on the server.
• When the prompt Press F1 for Setup is displayed, press F1.
• Select Load Default Settings.
• Select Advanced Setup; then, select RSA II Settings.
• Scroll down to OS USB Selection and then press the Right Arrow or Left Arrow key until Linux OS is displayed.

To install Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 6, complete the following steps:

   • if the server does not have a CD/DVD drive, perform the installation from a PXE server that contains an image of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 6.

2. Follow the detailed instructions in the Red Hat Linux Installation Guide to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 6.

3. If you want to configure a software iSCSI target for installation, in the Disk Partitioning window, select Advanced storage configuration to set up the partitions, and select the Review and modify partitioning layout check box.

Note: Red Hat might require some updates for proper technology support beyond the base installation. To obtain the best security and performance from the server, apply all current software upgrades and security patches. See the Red Hat Network Reference Guide for information about how to do this.

O Debian 8 funciona bem com isso, se você fornecer parâmetros do kernel:

intel_iommu=on iommu=soft

Pelo netinstall mínimo fornece parâmetros com o comando grub edit boot e depois da instalação é adicionado automaticamente.

Mesmo no Ubuntu, eu acho.

Estou usando o Debian 8 no meu x3850 m2 .. funciona muito bem também usei o centOS 7 mas queria poder usar deb. arquivos fáceis. A maioria das outras distros tem pânico kernal.
