Você excluiu o diretório /home/me123/.gnupg e foi recriado por gpg? Em caso afirmativo, provavelmente o que está confundindo o agente.
Reinicie o agente ou, mais drasticamente, reinicie sua máquina e tente novamente.
Estou tentando gerar uma chave gpg
$ gpg --full-gen-key
mas, em alguns casos, recebo um erro
gpg: agent_genkey failed: No such file or directory
Key generation failed: No such file or directory
Estou no Arch Linux.

Parece que o diretório ~ / .gnupg / private-keys-v1.d (sob algumas circunstâncias) não está sendo criado ou foi criado com permissões erradas.
# mkdir -p ~/.gnupg/private-keys-v1.d
# chmod 700 ~/.gnupg/private-keys-v1.d
Corrigido para mim.
