Como faço para que o Wireless funcione em um Asus Zenbook UX31 (E)?

Eu tenho um novo Asus Zenbook UX31E. Um problema instantâneo que eu enfrentei é que não parece haver uma maneira de fazer o Wi-Fi funcionar imediatamente usando um pen drive Ubuntu 11.10 Live que tem kernel 3.0.00-12 (ele funciona quando eu tento Fedora 16 e com o OpenSuse 12.1).

O problema é que o ethernet também não está funcionando (o laptop usa um adaptador especial), então instruções sobre como consertar isso provavelmente envolverão colocar pacotes .deb em pen drives.

Atualizar o kernel para uma versão mais recente resolve o problema.

No meu caso eu baixei um conjunto de pacotes .deb daqui: link

Este kernel é corrigido para o Zenbook e funciona muito bem para mim. Juntamente com as instruções nesta página Wiki, link , para que um script seja executado antes da função suspender, isso resulta em um sistema funcional para mim.
