debian X Xconf resolução xrandr badmatch

Question

Recentemente eu instalei o debian squeeze (amd64), quando eu configurei minha resolução, erros inesperados apareceram, eu fiz muita pesquisa, mas não consegui encontrar uma maneira de descobrir isso.

1. para instalar o ambiente de área de trabalho: apt-get update , apt-get install xorg-core xserver-xorg-core gnome-core gdm3
2. para instalar recursos gráficos apt-get install build-essential nvidia-kernel-common linux-headers-$(uname -r) , ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-304.64.run

as etapas acima parecem todas as coisas estão corretas.

3. para definir a resolução: cvt 1440 900 , xrandr --newmode xxx , xrandr --addmode VGA-0 xxx

então recebi esse erro:

Eu não sei de que informações você precisa, e apenas liste algumas

atualização

Tentei forçar a resolução para 1440x900 usando nvidia-settings , após a reinicialização, a resolução foi alterada para 1440X1024 (nvidia-settings adicionou uma linha ao xorg.conf Option "metamodes" "1440x1024 +0+0" ). tela se torna rolável no horizonte assim:
