Como instalar automaticamente as atualizações antes do desligamento?

O Windows 7 instala automaticamente as atualizações antes do desligamento. Posso obter o mesmo efeito no Xubuntu?

Eu quero instalar o Xubuntu na máquina de um amigo e ter certeza de que as atualizações de segurança estão instaladas, mas ele é analfabeto, e não quero que ele fique constantemente incomodado com as notificações de atualização.

Verifique se você tem o pacote unattended-upgrades instalado e configure as seguintes opções em /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades :
