O mesmo problema no meu novo debian 9 instalado com o instalador do release. O problema desapareceu depois de retirar o arquivo trusted.gpg do caminho:
sudo mv trusted.gpg trusted.gpg-broken
Depois, o apt parece ser feliz. Eu também sou!
Instalação limpa do SMP Debian 4.9.30-2 + deb9u2 (2017-06-26) x86_64 GNU / Linux em um HP G62-144DX com 4G de memória, 500G HD e CPU Intel® Core ™ i3 M 330 @ 2.13 GHz × 4 Tudo está funcionando bem. Eu atualizei o repositório apt algumas vezes para ter certeza de que não havia atualizações, então sei que estava funcionando antes de tentar adicionar o non-free.
Depois de escolher "Softeare Compatível com DFSG com Dependências Não-Livres (contrib)" no synaptic apt tornou-se "infeliz". Eu tentei procurar por respostas, mas ou estou nos lugares errados ou é só eu (ou seja, a lei de Murphy).
Quando o apt-get update é chamado, recebo o seguinte:

Eu tentei voltar desmarcando a opção no Synaptic e copiando sources.list.saved para sources.list sem sorte.

Então, se eu estou lendo este direito, o apt tem todas as chaves necessárias para reconhecer a distro, mas se recusa a fazê-lo.
