Meu amigo tem um disco externo WD Elements 1TB USB, que sofreu um pouco de impacto. Estamos procurando recuperar algo disso, se possível.

Eu o conectei a uma estação de trabalho Debian para ver se nós poderíamos imaginá-lo - o indicador LED no HDD aceso - no entanto, ele não monta (provavelmente esperado, considere a situação).

Eventualmente, eu faço o kickstart de um dd-job, mas ele realmente não escreve nenhum byte, e eventualmente o disco parece se desconectar.

Isso é indicativo de um problema com o disco ou com a interface USB?

Eu tenho uma ponte USB 3.0 para SATA separada, eu poderia remover o disco interno do WD Elements e testá-lo - no entanto, não tenho certeza se isso faria alguma diferença nesse estágio?

It eventually does, I kickstart a dd-job, but it doesn't actually write out any bytes, and then eventually the disk seems to disconnect itself.

AVISO LEGAL: é difícil dizer a extensão exata dos danos ao disco, parece que pelo menos a primeira parte do disco está danificada.

Primeiro, tente pular alguns blocos com dd usando skip= . O problema pode ser que há uma peça defeituosa perto do início do disco (= > você tem sorte).

Eu duvido que seja a interface SATA-> USB, embora você possa tentar conectar o disco diretamente via SATA, em uma torre, por exemplo.

Eu normalmente usaria testdisk para tentar recuperar o que pode ser recuperado. É um pouco de sucesso e falta. Use as ferramentas certas para a tarefa.
