Executando o OS 12.3 Encontrei o problema de uma tela irregular e / ou deslocada usando um driver AMD HD 7670M e FGLRX e / ou radeon.

Breve história: não importa o que eu faça - a tela é deslocada para a direita & envolto (variando de 1/4 a 3/4 do monitor) ou aparece em listras deslocadas estranhas (variando na largura entre as reinicializações).
A única coisa que funciona é o modo à prova de falhas.
