Tente reinicializar seu PC quando casos semelhantes acontecerem, conforme declarado aqui e aqui . Pode ser por causa da atualização do kernel que é necessário reiniciar para fazer o usb funcionar.
Inseri uma unidade USB no meu computador que funcionava anteriormente, mas agora não funciona.
