Extensão OpenGL GLX não suportada pelo display

Eu tenho Debian Jessie 8.8 instalado em um laptop muito simples. Quando eu executo o cliente Steam, ele mostra a mensagem "OpenGL GLX extension não suportada pelo display".

Editar: agora, depois de instalar o xserver-xorg-core e o libgl1-mesa-glx, a atualização é executada, mas não inicia a tela de login ou qualquer outra coisa (devo criar uma nova pergunta, então?). A saída do terminal é
