Eu tentei soluções encontradas aqui, como:

apt-get clean

dpkg --configure -a

dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/base-files_6.5ubuntu6.7_amd64.deb

rm /var/cache/apt/archives/base-files_6.5ubuntu6.7_amd64.deb

Também pensei em mencionar que estou executando um contêiner LXC. Alguém sabe como eu posso esclarecer isso?

Esta mensagem de erro indica que você tem um sistema de arquivos não-padrão em / mnt que está em um estado problemático. O pacote base-files fornece o diretório / mnt no sistema de arquivos, assim o dpkg assume que deve ser capaz de descompactar o diretório se necessário. Você precisa desmontar / mnt em seu sistema para atualizar arquivos base.
