Problema ao instalar o driver adicional

Question

Eu tentei ativar o driver gráfico ATI / AMD FGLRX (atualmente estou usando a placa gráfica ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470.) usando Sistema / Administração / Drivers adicionais. No entanto, toda vez que eu tentei, recebi a mensagem algo como "Falha na instalação. Verifique o arquivo de log /var/log/jockey.log ".

Eu não posso colar o log inteiro, já que seu tamanho é mais de 5 vezes o tamanho máximo da pergunta. No log, descobri que o primeiro erro do log é ERROR: modinfo: could not find module fglrx . Abaixo estão as primeiras partes do arquivo de log.

Talvez você possa tentar instalar os drivers mais recentes da ATI fglrx manualmente. O site a seguir é um wiki não oficial para os drivers da ATI. Estou usando o Radeon 5650 e o Catalyst 12.1 no Ubuntu 11.10. O Unity 3D funciona bem.

O ventilador da CPU não é tão sobrecarregado comparado com nenhum GPU instalado , de acordo com minha própria experiência.

Se você estiver tentando a opção 1, não funcionará como mostra o bug acima. opção 2 instala. E ele usa o driver fglrx para a placa ATI, mas a usabilidade e o centro de controle estão ausentes para mim até que o aticongfig seja executado. Isso, no entanto, trava tudo. Isso pode não se qualificar como uma resposta, então me perdoe se for inadequado ...

Eu tenho uma Radeon 5450 com o mesmo problema. As atualizações pós-lançamento não serão instaladas, e isso foi relatado no launchpad, como Tim mencionou. A segunda opção sempre funcionou para mim, mas eu encontrei um problema com isso - o desligamento iria falhar pelo menos metade do tempo (outro problema conhecido). Então, decidi abandonar os drivers e, para mim, não há absolutamente nenhuma desvantagem perceptível, e o desligamento sempre funciona.

Então, se você não precisa dos drivers, eu não aconselho instalá-los. Para mim, tudo funciona bem, mas eu não jogo nenhum jogo nem coloco demandas pesadas no meu sistema. Acabei de usar o Compiz para algumas das melhorias de produtividade, e é tudo o que me interessa.
