Tenho um velho laptop Rock x770 (clevo M57RU) com placa gráfica nvidia GTX7950go, intel core2duo 2.4Ghz.
Eu tenho rodado o xubuntu 14:04 com os drivers da Nvidia 304 desde que ele saiu, sem problemas. Recentemente eu de repente comecei a ver linhas verticais de pontos brancos na tela da BIOS e ele inicializava em uma tela preta. Indo para o terminal tty e olhando para os logs do X, vejo o Xserver travando com o sinal "(EE) Caught 11 (falha de segmentação). Abortando o servidor".
Eu posso fazê-lo funcionar usando o nomodeset na linha de inicialização do grub e usando os drivers Nouveau, mas apenas com resolução baixa de 1280 x 1024 (res nativa é 1920x1200), assim que eu alterno para drivers nvidia dos drivers adicionais app volta a tela preta, mesmo depois de uma nova instalação. Se eu retirar o nomodeset com drivers Nouveau, ele chegará à tela de logon, mas estará muito corrompido e congelará.
Já tentei muitas sugestões para desinstalar e reinstalar vários drivers e pacotes X Tentei xrandr para alternar modos, mas isso não tem efeito quando no modo de baixa resolução / nouveau, apenas um breve piscar de olhos e mensagem Configure crtc 0 failed .
Tentativas de reinstalação recentes de 14.04 e 16.04 sem sucesso, sempre limitadas a nomodeset e low res com drivers Nouveau. Não é mais usado para jogos em 3D ou jogos, então ficaria feliz com os drivers Nouveau se conseguisse a resolução completa.
Pelo que pesquisei, uma possibilidade provável é que a corrupção da tela do BIOS indique que a placa de vídeo está com defeito e só pode ser executada no modo VGA básico de baixa resolução.
Então, alguém capaz de sugerir mais alguma coisa para experimentar antes de eu olhar para substituir a placa gráfica? (É um módulo MXM que pode ser feito, se eu puder encontrar um). Eu já vi sugestões de assar a placa gráfica no forno! que eu poderia tentar primeiro, quando eu não tenho mais nada a perder - link .
