Eu quero converter meu velho netbook HP de 32 bits sem drive de CD para o Linux Umbuntu. Eu sou um novato mas trabalhei no UNIX 28 anos atrás.

Você pode instalar a partir do USB.

O procedimento geral para instalar o Ubuntu (ou Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, ...) a partir de uma unidade flash USB é:

Acquire the correct Ubuntu installation files ('the ISO')
Put Ubuntu onto your USB flash drive
Configure your computer to boot from USB flash drive and boot from it

Try Ubuntu (Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, ...) before installing it
Install Ubuntu to your internal drive (hard disk drive or solid state drive).
