Ubuntu 10.04 não detectando vários monitores

Eu tenho 2 placas gráficas, a saída do lspci:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV770 [Radeon HD 4850]
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV710 [Radeon HD 4350]

Eu tenho um monitor conectado ao 4850 e 2 conectado ao 4350. No entanto, quando entro no sistema > Preferências > Monitora o único monitor mostrado é aquele conectado ao 4850.

Existe algo que eu preciso ativar para poder usar o outro cartão? Como faço para que isso funcione?

Isso não vai funcionar. Veja, os poderes que estão na Xorg decidiram que remover a capacidade de pessoas com várias placas para configurá-las é preferível a pessoas com laptops que precisam aprender a fazer as coisas sozinhas.

O XRandR 1.2 NÃO suporta múltiplas placas (GPU Object Support). Ele estava previsto para lançamento com 1.3, mas agora é movido para 2.0. O que realmente me irrita é que ninguém me notificou. Eu tenho rodado várias placas desde o Slackware 7, e agora, eu não posso, desde que essas placas tenham drivers que são compatíveis com XRandR.

Em resumo, você precisa reverter para uma versão anterior do X ou reverter para um driver mais antigo. De qualquer forma, os caras do X estão com a cabeça erguida.

Você provavelmente precisará configurar isso no aplicativo ATI Catalyst Control Center . Não tenho certeza de onde, exatamente, você encontraria isso sob o Gnome. No KDE, é em Aplicativos - > Configurações para mim Isso é o que eu tive que fazer no Kubuntu 10.04 para ter meus dois monitores reconhecidos.

Primeiro faça o backup de seu xorg.conf copiando-o para o diretor da sua casa ( cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /home/whatever )

Emita o seguinte comando em um terminal

sudo aticonfig --initial=dual-head --adapter=all

isso iniciará todos os seus cartões criando um novo arquivo xorg.conf .

Reinicialize sua máquina. (ou reinicie o X).

Quando vem backup, todos os monitores estarão funcionando. Agora inicie o centro de controle de catalisador ATI e contorne as posições do monitor e.t.c

Você pode precisar apenas editar seu arquivo xorg.conf. No arquivo /etc/X11/xorg.conf existe uma seção chamada "device". Você precisa ter 1 seção de dispositivo para cada placa de vídeo em seu sistema.

dentro da seção "dispositivo", você atribui um nome exclusivo a cada placa de vídeo, para que X saiba de qual deles você está falando e, em seguida, algumas outras opções, como a localização do dispositivo no barramento PCI.

Por exemplo, lendo a seção do dispositivo xorg.conf, ele sabe que a placa de vídeo 1 está no local "PCI: 1: 0: 0" e a segunda placa (em sua própria seção de dispositivo) está localizada em "PCI: 2 : 0: 0 ". O 0 e 1 são da sua saída de lspci na sua pergunta.
