não pode formatar disco rígido danificado

Acho que tenho um problema com meu disco rígido.

Eu tentei inicializar o sistema e isso estava demorando muito. Depois de um tempo, disse que a unidade não era inicializável.

Eu tentei executar o disco de verificação, mas não consegui concluir.

Tentei removê-lo do laptop para ver se posso recuperar os arquivos, mas a unidade não parece estar formatada. Quando tentei formatar a unidade, recebi uma mensagem dizendo que a formatação não foi bem-sucedida.

Um teste S.M.A.R.T retornou uma falha de leitura.

O mais irritante é que, quando tento formatar apenas uma parte da unidade, funciona bem.

O que isso significa?

EDIT 2: A máquina na qual eu tenho a unidade conectada está rodando o windows 7 sp1, o driver está conectado via usb (sata para usb) e o modelo do driver hard é o MK1652GSX e o modelo de laptop é Presario CQ60.

A unidade possui setores defeituosos e você os está atingindo quando tenta formatar.

Execute o diagnóstico oferecido pelo fabricante da unidade e, se ele não puder "consertar", a unidade precisará ser substituída.

Se a unidade funcionar no laptop, mas o volume aparecer bruto em outra máquina, ela poderá estar criptografada (truecrypt, etc). Este é um laptop que foi fornecido por uma universidade ou outra grande organização?

Se estiver criptografado, você precisará do (s) driver (s), software e senha apropriados para montar o volume em outra máquina

Parece que seu disco pode ter alguns setores defeituosos. Isso geralmente acontece com os discos antigos, pois a cabeça de leitura / gravação e os componentes magnéticos se desgastam. Pode ser possível reparar esses setores ou desativá-los, pois alguns discos rígidos vêm com software que permite que eles sejam diagnosticados e reparados, ou o fabricante pode fornecer essas ferramentas em seu site.

Faça alguma pesquisa para sua campanha específica e veja o que acontece.

Se tudo mais falhar, você provavelmente precisará de um novo disco rígido.
