Não é possível mapear a unidade de rede no Windows 7 após fechar a conexão VPN

Portanto, o comando abaixo funciona se eu reiniciar o computador. Mas sempre que eu VPN para a rede de um determinado cliente no Windows 7, perco a minha unidade mapeada. E quando tento restabelecer a unidade mapeada (mesmo depois de fechar a conexão VPN), recebo esse erro no prompt de comando do Windows. FYI: Eu tenho outra máquina virtual executando o Windows XP e isso nunca acontece lá.

Para essa pergunta, gostaria apenas de mapear essa unidade sem ter que reinicializar o Windows 7. Como posso fazer isso?

Perguntas sobre bônus: por que isso acontece apenas no Windows 7? Como posso manter minha VPN aberta e também mapear esta unidade? Existem ferramentas para solucionar esses tipos de coisas?

Então eu não sou um guru da rede, mas vejo uma diferença com o comando ipconfig / all. O endereço físico é diferente e é isso. E o aluguel obtido e o aluguel expiram, mas provavelmente são irrelevantes. Se houver qualquer outra informação que você precisa, por favor me avise.

Estou apenas dando um tiro no escuro aqui, mas você já tentou executar o seguinte após fechar sua conexão VPN?

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

e possivelmente acompanhados por

ipconfig /flushdns
