O Grub2 não mostrará nenhum menu gráfico

Eu recentemente instalei o Ubuntu no meu sistema, e como minha instalação anterior do grub2 era confusa, decidi reinstalar o grub2 nessa partição do Ubuntu.

De qualquer forma, não funcionou totalmente: o grub-install não deu nenhum erro, ainda que na reinicialização, o grub não mostre seu menu, mas apenas sua linha de comando.

Eu consigo inicializar todos os sistemas operacionais no meu computador, mas é algo que eu gostaria de evitar a longo prazo (digitar 4 linhas de código, com um mapa de teclado americano é um pouco mais lento do que rolar para uma entrada específica ).

Eu tentei várias configurações do GRUB_TERMINAL, mas não obtive nenhuma alteração. Não há nenhuma mensagem de erro que eu possa ver antes do prompt de linha de comando, somente a mensagem de introdução do comando grub.

Existe alguma parte do processo de configuração que eu perdi? O Grub sempre trabalhou fora da caixa no passado, pelo menos quando instalado no Ubuntu, o que é altamente possível.

Editar: Usando o aptitude para baixar novamente e reinstalar o grub corrigiu o problema agora. Mas ainda assim gostaria de saber o que estava causando o problema.

É muito difícil depurar os problemas de grub2 com relação ao grub.cfg gerado. A primeira coisa a tentar quando tiver esse tipo de problema com grub2 é limpar seus pacotes e reinstalá-los. com sua configuração "simples", grub2 provavelmente funcionará bem.

No entanto, para depurar efetivamente os problemas de grub2 , é aconselhável executá-lo em qemu :

sync ; echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches ; qemu -hda /dev/sdx

Isso torna o processo de depuração mais rápido (não é necessário reinicializar) e, ao mesmo tempo, desacelera o grub2 , permitindo ver mensagens de erro que, ao contrário, seriam muito rápidas para serem lidas na inicialização.
