Apesar de enviar uma solicitação assíncrona ao servidor através do AJAX, o servidor não responderá até que a solicitação anterior não relacionada tenha terminado. O código a seguir só é quebrado dessa forma no Nginx, mas roda perfeitamente no Apache.
Esta chamada iniciará um processo em segundo plano e aguardará a conclusão para que possa exibir o resultado final.

O abaixo é chamado após o acima, que no Apache requer 100ms para executar e se repete, mostrando o progresso dos dados sendo gravados em segundo plano:

Infelizmente, quando esse script é executado a partir do nginx, a solicitação de progresso acima nunca termina uma única solicitação até que a primeira solicitação AJAX que enviou os dados seja concluída. Se eu alterar o assíncrono para VERDADEIRO no acima, ele executará um a cada intervalo, mas nenhum deles será concluído até que o primeiro pedido do AJAX seja concluído.
